Don't forget to pack your bag in the morning. Your grade depends on it - and it's worth a midterm in points! (Make up and hair is not required.)

Required Items Girls:
*Nude Leotard, *black dance shorts, *optional tan / caramel convertible or footless tights

Required Items Boys:
*Black athletic pants, *black t-shirt, *white t-shirt

Costumes General Info:
Please look over this document carefully to see which items you are responsible for providing. Scroll until you see your class period and grade. If it says “provided by PPA” then you will be borrowing something from us. It will live in the dressing room on a hanger with your name on it, before and after the show. This costume will NOT go home with you.

Find where it says “Provided by you” in red to see what is required on your part. Be sure to check for all dances and for both modern and tap as you might have multiple classes and / or multiple dances. All items are due by dress rehearsals.

Mrs Keller
"Flight Patterns" Lit Assignment:

*Watch the attached video of an excerpt from Crystal Pite discussing her work of dance entitled “Flight Patterns"; then answer the following questions via Google Doc. These are two part questions so please answer fully.

1. What types of past or current events could be applied to this work Flight Patterns? Who or what types of people do you think would most identify with this work of dance?

2. Based on Crystal Pite’s quote… why is curiosity more important than outrage as a motivating force, also why is it important?

3. How does this work of dance express a border or liminal space (an in-between existence)? (Think formations as well as movement / emotions.)

4. Write a paragraph using CER Rubric. (Please see attached rubric)

***Prompt: What is the theme or thesis of “Flight Patterns”? In other words, what is the choreographer, Crystal Pite, trying to express? (Is this the story of an alienated individual’s plight, or is this a story about the opinion of the masses? Then elaborate.)

I need 3 reasons and 3 elaborations (6 sentences) - plus a Thesis and Concluding sentence. This should equal 8 sentences total! Be sure to give evidence for your claim… Talk about the movement, the music, the spacings, and / or the partnering, etc. Restate your claim at the end of your paragraph.

Thanks,
Mrs Keller
