Snow Days 2020/2021

As we have already seen, winter is coming--and maybe a little earlier than the calendar says it should.  Given the unique nature of our school year, we are in need of all the instructional time we can possibly have with your child(ren).  When school is cancelled due to weather, we miss out on much-needed instruction, and run into the possibility of needing to extend our school year in order to meet state-mandated instructional time requirements.  The last thing we want to do is continue school into the summer months for our students!
We will continue to follow DCSD's lead with regard to school closures and delayed starts for the safety of all of our families.  However, all future snow days will be REMOTE LEARNING days for PPA.  Students will use the google meet or zoom link for their academic classes and remote in for all academic classes ONLY at the regularly scheduled times on snow days.  Teachers will meet students online for instruction and then will assign work accordingly. Attendance will be taken and students are expected to join their classes remotely.  This will allow us to continue to meet required instructional time without adjusting our school calendar.
In the event of a weather related closure, we will communicate via email, schoolbzz, Facebook, and on our website.  Along with details about the closure, we will remind everyone of the remote learning day.  Daily schedules can be found on our website as well, so students can be sure to remote in at the correct time.
I am hopeful the weather cooperates as much as possible during this already challenging school year, however, if it doesn't, we are more than prepared to continue learning remotely!
