Upcoming Assignments
Due:
Please review instructions carefully! Submit all work to this assignment. I will share the folder with you all so you can see what others are creating!
This is worth 20 points total.
- 10 points sets, 10 points props
- 10 points hair/makeup, 10 points costumes
- 10 points lights, 10 points sound
- 10 points blocking notations, 10 points teaching the blocking
LIGHTS: Online Light Lab - you can mix colors and change levels of lights. When you find a look you like, take a screenshot to save it for reference - put these in a slideshow or document. Make sure things are bright enough that we can see the actors onstage. Mark in the script which lighting design should go when.
SOUND: What sounds would help tell the story? When should each happen? Mark in the script when each sound effect should start and end. Also indicate how loud/soft the sound should be. Think about adding scene change music and Bows music. GarageBand and iMovie are great resources for sound effects! Put all the sounds into a Google Drive folder and share it with Ms. Jordan
SETS: Design the sets using chairs, stage blocks, and items we can create - draw it out. Talk to Ms. Jordan if you have specific items that you want. Where should each item be? When do the sets change? What images should we project to help tell the story? When should the projection change?
PROPS: What props are needed? Who uses each item? What should the item look like? Do people have the items or can we make them? Sample Master Props List is attached for your reference.
COSTUMES: Decide what each character should wear. You can draw the design on the Costume Form or find photos from the internet.
MAKEUP/HAIR: Design any necessary hair/makeup looks for specific characters. You can draw the design on the Face Outlines or find photos from the internet.
DIRECTING: Block your scenes. Who is in the scene (include those with spoken lines and those with action only? What movement will help tell the story? Work together with the other directors so that the show is cohesive and feels like it goes together. Check with Sets/Props group so you know what to work around and what you can use in the scene. Help your actors make acting choices that tell a clear story to the audience. You are in charge of your scene, but it is a great idea to brainstorm with the other directors and work together so the scenes fit together.

Past Assignments
Due:
Attach screenshots of ALL Scene 2 & Scene 3 pages of your script with YOUR blocking marked. There may blank pages if your character is not on stage during that section of the scene.
Due:
1) Choose a 30-second monologue from the full text of "As You Like It" to perform for this audition.
You might find a chunk of text that works as is.
You can cut down a section of text if the monologue is too long.
You can also combine a few lines of the same character in the same section of a scene (just make sure it makes sense!)
2) Rehearse and prepare your MEMORIZED performance
Performance rubric is attached in Google Classroom
SLATE before you perform -- Greeting, Name, Play, Act, Scene (Example: Hello, my name is Carolyn Jordan. I will be performing a monologue from King John, Act 3, Scene 2)
3) Auditions will take place IN CLASS on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2
**If you will not be present for auditions, make arrangements with Ms. Jordan BEFORE that date.
