At PPA We Practice the Art of Education

Whether in an elementary movement class or a middle school history seminar, our teachers are much more than performers; they are well-trained professionals inspiring students to achieve.

Teaching is an Art

Education reformer John Dewey described teachers as artists, lovers, gardeners, composers, social engineers, and more. That’s certainly true of the teachers at PPA. Every one of our performing and visual arts classes is taught by a professional artist who continues to practice their craft outside of school. Our academic teachers are all certified in their subjects and work closely with each student to assure they understand the material they’re learning.

Middle school math teacher Donald Eldridge works with 3 Parker Performing Arts students in an academic classroom, reviewing work they’re doing while seated at a table.

“The teachers are some of the best I’ve ever had. Every teacher I have right now makes me want to come to school. They are at PPA because they love teaching and helping students succeed. I can tell you that each and every one of them would help me in a heartbeat if I asked for it.”

Parker Performing Arts offers a half-day of rigorous academics and a half-day of arts training daily for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade; but academic learning is continual.  Students apply math to dance as they count out beats and art to literature as words paint pictures.

“A PPA education includes a rigorous academic experience, but also offers the cognitive and emotional challenges of creative, collaborative, expressive, and performance-based learning offered by music, art, dance, and theater education.”

- PPA Principal, Phil Molfino

Arts from an Academic Perspective

Parker Performing Arts teacher Courtland Peterson leads a ballet class for middle school dancers.

“PPA is a place for me to share my knowledge, creativity, and passion. Dancers
here experience their art form in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

- PPA Dance Teacher for middle school, Courtland Peterson

PPA was founded in 2016 by a group of parents, teachers, community, and arts leaders who envisioned an academically excellent school focused on keeping the arts free and accessible to the K-8 students of Douglas County.

Every year we apply academic education standards to the arts curriculum. The potential to use math, literacy, science and history in the arts is limitless and offers another opportunity to engage with academic learning from a different perspective.

“At PPA the arts are our common passion, our common language, and central to a
highly engaging educational experience that brings together students from diverse backgrounds from across the metro areas.

- PPA Principal, Phil Molfino

There are no entrance exams or auditions required to attend Parker Performing Arts School. We’re now enrolling for the 2024-25 school year. Sign up for a school tour and see how we practice the art of education here.
