Homework Policy

At PPA homework is intended to be meaningful independent practice or application of skills and learning. Homework should never be busy work. On average, homework will be ten minutes for each student grade level, each night. For example, a fourth grade student can expect forty minutes of nightly homework. Homework often involves the completion of assignments not finished during class.

Late Work Policy:

Work is considered to be on time if it is turned in at the beginning of class during the period in which it is due. Work turned in after the beginning of class during class is considered to be late, even if the work is turned in during the same class period. Teachers will mark assignments as “Missing” in Infinite Campus. Once the assignment is marked as missing, students have 5 school days to complete the work on their own time to turn in for partial credit. Teachers are not expected to provide students class time to complete late or missing work. The student is responsible for diligence and honesty in their work. Parents must be enrolled in Google Guardian and Infinite Campus alerts. Parents should check students' Google Guardian and Infinite Campus weekly in order to understand their student’s assignment status. Infinite Campus is the main form of communication for status of all assignments.

Late work will be graded using the following criteria:

Work turned in on the due date, but after the beginning of class may be considered one day late. It may receive a 10% reduction of the earned grade. (Highest grade possible: 90%).
Work turned in the day after the due date may receive a 10% reduction for each day the work is turned in late up to 50%.
Work turned in after the 5th school day following the due date may receive a grade of “0.”
No work will be accepted after the scheduled Infinite Campus posting date for each quarter.
No student work can be accepted after the last day of school.

Late Work Due to Absence:
Students who are absent are expected to complete assignments in a timely basis. Students who are absent should complete makeup work in two days for every day they student is absent.
