Time to Prep for the New School Year

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the only arts-focused K-8 public charter school in Douglas County on the first day of school, August 14th. Let’s start the year off with a bang by taking a little time to prepare.

Make the Summer-to-School Transition Simple

Parker Performing Arts School middle schoolers walk through a school hallway at the start of a school day.

These five tips will make the summer-to-school transition a little easier. Start using them now.

1 – Celebrate and anticipate.

Celebrate all the fun times your family has enjoyed this summer as you anticipate the exciting learning experiences to come.

2 – Establish a reasonable bedtime.

Students need a minimum of 8 hours of restful sleep to be alert and engaged during school. For the next few nights move bedtime up by 10 minutes until you’ve reached the reasonable bedtime that will work during the school year.

3 – Wake up earlier each day.

Similarly, move up the call to wake-up each day to make school day morning rise & shine less painful.

4 – Reconnect with school friends

Organize a picnic or barbecue to join together before the first day of school.

5 – Do a back-to-school inventory

Check off the list of to-do’s now to avoid a last minute scramble.
